Knowledge is meant to be shared. This section highlights our lab’s efforts to mobilize research and engage with the community. Stay up to date with our latest talks, presentations, and conferences, connect with us on social media, and explore videos on neuroscience and our ongoing projects. Whether you're a researcher, student, or simply curious, this is your space to learn more and get involved.
Minding the Brain
Principal Investigator of HRG, Dr. Kim Hellemans, hosts an award-winning, cognitive and brain science podcast, Minding the Brain alongside her friend and colleague Dr. Jim Davies. It explores how the brain and mind work, touching on various topics such as memory, mental health, emotions and artificial intelligence. Minding the Brain works to translate science into clear, accessible conversations, making complex ideas in neuroscience and psychology easy to understand and engaging for all listeners. CuSpark
CUCannabisCrew, now renamed CU_Spark. Is a student-driven initiative that engages the university community in evidence-informed conversations about cannabis, harm reduction, and substance use health. Through videos, workshops, peer education, and creative outreach strategies (e.g., interactive flyers, social media campaigns), CU_Spark translates our research findings into accessible tools that challenge stigma and promote informed decision-making.
Mindful Media
Mindful Media CU is a group of students at Carleton University sharing emerging neuroscience research on problematic social media use and works to promote healthier patterns of social media use.
Stigma Ends at CU
Stigma Ends at CU is a student-led campaign at Carleton University dedicated to reducing the stigma around substance use disorders and behavioural addictions. By using a student-led approach, the campaign strives to build and sustain a well-informed, stigma-free campus community. It also works to support broader stigma-reduction efforts through active collaboration with local organizations.
